Wrapping up Wednesday in Polska

Ok, good.  Blogger put everything back in English for me.  Last time I got on, it figured out that I am in Poland and "helpfully" translated all the buttons and menus to Polish for me.

At any rate this turned out to be quite a full day.  Shortly after posting that picture of Mary Magdalen's I stopped for lunch at a small bakery happened to pass.  I got two small (pancake sized) pastries stuffed with spinach and cheese, and one large sweet roll with some kind of almond crusty top on it.  3 zlotyes.  At current exchange rates that's about $0.95!  And it was delicious!  So I was psyched about that.

Then after fussing with the lame hotel internet connection for awhile, I had the pleasure of meeting with Zbigniew Minda, the federal commishioner of the UIGSE.  We grabbed a beer at an Irish pub and discussed the movement in the US and in Poland.  Then we headed over to where his wife was leading of meeting of female UIGSE chiefs who were preparing a play for an upcoming pilgrimage.  We rented some city bikes and Zbigniew kindly treated me to biking tour of central Warsaw.

We stopped at the meeting place and Zbigniew introduced me to his wife and the other chiefs.  They looked to be having quite a fun time preparing for their play.  And they were amused to meet an American Scout of Europe!  We continued on, returned the bikes at the nearest drop off point, and grabbed a bite to eat.  It's really something to go all the way to Warsaw, and find someone you have never met before who shows you all around the city.  Really a fun time!

Now it's time for bed!  I took some other pictures, but I will post those later.

  2. Nice to know! Hope that there will be plenty of US Scouts of Europe soon, good luck with it then. Feel invited to Lublin too, there are a lot of people, who you have never met before, and who'd like to show you the city! Paweł Czuba

  3. Thank you Paweł! I really wish I could come to Lublin, it looks like a beautiful city. But the rest of my time here will mostly be taken up the conference I came for.
